Spam is a biggy for me but it is the human spammers that are now the challenge. Since they are wasting my time, I wish they would at least click some of my ads and spend money. Finding a way to defeat them continues. The spam blocker in CommentLuv Premium is more customizable but for automated spam. Other plugins are needed in addition for spam.
Finding other blogs that use CommentLuv Premium or at least CommentLuv can help focus your comments where you will get the most return for your efforts while helping the community. Using the Forum gains community with others using the plugin. Build a community and support crossing many topics.
Love the new top commenter‘s for visible support to those who support your website with useful comments. These people tweet out your posts too. You can adjust the list if necessary.
Entice comments by offering more posts to pick from for their website. Giving Do Follow links for approved comments over an x number of posts.
When I comment on other CommentLuv Websites or Blogs I am given a choice of 10 posts links. Additionally, I can pick from favorites from my site.

Good recap of using the CommentLuv plugin. Over the years, I’ve grown to really like using it,and I know my blog visitors do as well. On a site note, I found the text a little hard to read on the yellow background.

Comment Luv has finally given incentive again for people to write comments on other peoples blogs. For the last few years there was so little commenting on really great websites that it was disheartening for the authors.

Ive looked at the premium version of the plugin, but currently don’t see too much need over the free version. I can see the benefit of KeywordName, but doesn’t keywordluv do the same thing? OK you have more control over it but that is the only benefit I can see.
Having said that, I will probably upgrade to the premium version, just to support the author more than anything else.

Human spammers are the hardest to beat.
What site they are trying to link back too, determines that point for me.
However, it’s the spam bots that are the real pain in the backside; commentluv’s spam deterrents have stopped the bots completely for me even the track backs are dealt with.
Andy Bailey has done a top job developing commentluv premium I use it on all my blogs.

Yeah, I think commenluv is a great asset to ‘the comment process’. Another good one is ‘Reply Me’ which sends an email out to a commenter whenever the blogger responds and replies to a comment. I also think a decent captcha is good to avoid the need for moderation (or another anti-spam like WP Captcha-Free – the one you use ;o)
